Pop quiz time. What year was it?

  1. The Dow Jones Industrial Average topped 3000 for the first time.
  2. Jeffrey Dahmer was arrested.
  3. Freddie Mercury died due to complications from AIDS.
  4. The number one song was Bryan Adam’s (Everything I Do) I Do It for You.
  5. COMBA adopted section one of the Colorado Trail.

The year was 1991. Here we are in 2016 and COMBA is celebrating 25 years of Colorado Trail adoption! We will celebrate this anniversary in a big way with SWAG, beer, food, and who knows what else. Come on out and Give with a capital “G”!

(Please note that the meeting place may change as we approach the date of the trail work. Trail needs will determine where we start our day.)

The meeting place for this event will be the Waterton Canyon trailhead parking lot. The address is 11300 Waterton Road, Littleton, CO 80125. From the C-470 and Wadsworth Blvd interchange, head south on S. Wadsworth Blvd for approximately 4.5 miles to the intersection with Waterton Rd. Turn left on Waterton Rd. and then take the 2nd left turn into the Waterton Canyon parking lot. Look for the COMBA tents once in the parking lot.

We will have coffee and light breakfast available in the morning. After a quick meeting at 8:30 AM, we will pile into vehicles and drive up the canyon to the start of the singletrack. From there, we will hike into the work site. Plan to hike at least a couple of miles on the day. We’ll work until around 2:00 PM and then you’re free to go for a ride, hike or just relax. We’ll fire up the grill for our post work, afternoon BBQ so please register so we can plan accordingly and contact you if things should change. If you bring your bike for post-work recreation, you will need to make sure that it is secured. We will not be taking bikes up the trail.

Dress in sturdy work clothes including boots, long pants (recommended), work gloves, hat and sunglasses. Remember to bring water, a lunch, sunscreen and a pack to carry them in. A hydration pack works great for this purpose. There will be water available at the staging area.

So come on out and help us celebrate 25 years of our stewardship of the Colorado Trail. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Patrick Bull at We’ll see you on September 24th!
