Thanks for volunteering your time to help maintain the wonderful trails in the Buffalo Creek Recreation area. We will be helping our friends at the Colorado Trail Foundation by performing maintenance on segment 2 of the Colorado Trail. We will be meet at the intersection of the Colorado Trail and the South Platte River near the old South Platte Township site at 8:30 am. We will have a quick meeting and safety talk and head out to the work site by 9:00 am, at the latest. We will be hiking in as far as 2 miles to the work site. We will work for about 4 hours and return to our meeting location.
How Do I Get There?
From Denver, take Highway 285 (Hampden Ave.) west to Conifer. Just past the Bradley gas station and the Staples shopping center, exit right to Kennedy Gulch Rd. Turn left onto Kennedy Gulch Rd. and go under 285. At the next intersection, turn left onto Foxton Rd (CO Rd. 97) and follow it roughly 7 miles, past Reynolds Park and down to the S. Platte River. Turn left onto the River Rd., heading downstream, and go roughly 8 miles to where the Colorado Trail crosses the river. Look for the COMBA trailer.
Please wear comfortable and protective hiking boots or shoes, sturdy clothes (long pants are recommended), a comfortable work shirt, work gloves, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Bring plenty of water, snacks and food for lunch. Many people prefer to use their hydration pack to carry their water and supplies. All tools and work supplies will be provided by COMBA.
COMBA will host a post-work BBQ including cold beverages. We invite you to hang out with us after the trail work and enjoy a relaxing afternoon by the river. Bring your bike too if you want to ride after the BBQ.
Please register at the COMBA website. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Keith Clarke of the Colorado Mountain Bike Association at email@example.com.
We look forward to seeing you on the 21st!
