What: Riding A Fixed Gear Bike the Entire Continental Divide Trail

Fixie Dave Nice, from Pedal Pushers Cyclery, is an underground legend in the biking world, and deservedly so. In 2012, after five failed attempts and almost a decade of frustration, Fixie Dave became the first person ever to ride the entire length of the 2,745 mile Continental Divide Trail, from Antelope Wells, New Mexico to Banff, Alberta on a fixed gear bicycle. Unlike a normal bicycle, a fixed gear bike doesn't stop pedaling when you do, which adds immense challenge to an already challenging endeavor. Come toNeptune Mountaineering on this Thursday, August 1st, to hear the story about how this former whiskey distiller tackled 50 mph headwinds, grizzly bears, bike thieves and a bike lost on the Greyhound bus ride to the start to complete this amazing cycling feat. Dave will also discuss ultra-light bike packing techniques for your next adventure.
