National Trails Day, May 31st
It’s Box O’ Rox time.
That’s right, on Saturday, May 31st, COMBA and REI are partnering with Lakewood Regional Parks to show some love for the Box O’ Rox trail on Green Mountain Park.
A complete re-route is planned to move the trail out of the wetlands. It’s a lot of work so we’ll need all the help we can get. Tools and guidance are provided and there’s no experience needed.
We’ll be digging in the dirt so wear sturdy work clothes including boots, long pants (recommended), work gloves, hat and sunglasses. Remember to bring water, sunscreen and a pack to carry them in. A hydration pack works great for this purpose. Water will be available at the staging area but not at the work site. It’s about a one mile hike to the work site. The event is limited to 150 volunteers so please register to assure you’ll have a spot. For more information and to register, please go to: www.Lakewood.org/ParkProgramsandEvents
See you on the 31st.
