Friends of JCOS Launch a Success, Golden Giddyup September 18th!

On February 23rd, our partners at Wheat Ridge Cyclery hosted the 2016 Friends Of kickoff party and Jefferson County Open Space (JCOS) Celebration.  With approximately 120 people in attendance, the evening was a huge success.  Gil McCormick opened the evening with celebration of the JCOS staff who have been key players in both flood recovery efforts and in furthering the Friends Of stewardship model over the last couple of years.  The evening brought together mountain bikers from all over the front range who want to be involved in giving back to their trails and we now have over 75 people signed up to join one of the Friends Of “Park Teams” at North Table Mountain, Windy Saddle and Apex Parks.  JCOS staff were on hand, as were the new Volunteer Park Coordinators for each Friends Of Teams.  COMBA had a great evening with several new members joining up, and our partners at the Golden Giddyup were there to help add some excitement as we all look forward to the first mountain bike race to be held in Golden, CO on JCOS trails on September 18th, 2016.  100% of the proceeds from the Giddyup go back to supporting Friends Of stewardship efforts, improving and influencing existing and new trails in Jefferson County Open Space.  For more information about the Giddyup, or to sign up to join one of the park teams, go to http://goldengiddyup.com/shape-what-you-shred
