Buffalo Creek, Little Scraggy Trail Build, July 19-20
The June volunteers really stepped it up and we are over half way to completing the east side of Little Scraggy trail. We’re building again on July 19th and 20th. Our focus is on finishing the rough cut portion of the trail, using simple hand tools and there’s no experience needed. We provide the tools and the guidance. Come for a day or spend the weekend and camp with us. 8:45 am start, both days.
We’ll meet at our campsite along 550 Road. 550 Road is about 13 miles south on County Road 126 from the intersection of Highway 285. Go through the town of Buffalo Creek, up the hill past the North Fork Volunteer Fire and Rescue Station and at the end of a long straightaway, turn right onto Road 550 (also known as Redskin Creek Rd. or Wellington Lake Rd.). Head west on 550 Road about 1/3 of a mile to a parking area on the left side of the road with a steel post and cable fence. Look for the COMBA sign and drive through the gate. (see map for details)
There will be a light breakfast available. After a quick meeting, we’ll hike into the work site. It’s about a mile hike each way. We’ll work till 2:00 pm and then there will be free time to go ride or just relax. We’ll have a post work BBQ each day so please register so we can plan accordingly and contact you if things should change.
Dress in sturdy work clothes including boots, long pants (recommended), work gloves, hat and sunglasses. Remember to bring water, your own lunch, sunscreen and a pack to carry them in. A hydration pack works great for this purpose. There is no water available at the campsite so bring your own.
So come help us continue our work on Little Scraggy trail. Remember, you give us 5 hours, we’ll give you 5 miles… of new trail. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact firstname.lastname@example.org. See you on the 19th!
