The weather cooperated this year for Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day on October 4th at Bear Creek Lake Park. We had close to 80 kids participating and they had a great time! The kids were assigned to ride groups, based on their ages and skill levels. After signing in, they enjoyed breakfast of Kind & Clif bars, bagels, fruit, juice, and hot chocolate from Wash Perk. After fueling up, the kids took their bikes to be checked out at our mechanic tent from Green Mountain Sports. Once their bikes were deemed to be in working condition, we welcomed everyone and started the workshops. Each ride group attended four 10-minute workshops, which included bike handling, IMBA rules of the trail, bike maintenance, and ecology of the park. Then the ride groups went on an hour and fifteen minute guided ride throughput the park. The event ended with lunch of subs and pizza from Woody's and a raffle. A huge thanks to our partner Trips for Kids Denver/Boulder; as well as our sponsors: Adventure Medical Kits, City of Lakewood, Clif Bar, Golden Bike Shop, Granite Gear, Green Mountain Sports, High Altitude Sales and Consulting, Icebreaker, Kind, Pay it Forward Foundation, Pearl Izumi, Primal Wear, Princeton Tec, Wash Perk Coffee, Wheat Ridge Cyclery, Woody's, and Yakima.
